Stupid Airline Charge
10 March 2011
Hey kids, Just found out that the airline is charging $25 per luggage piece. Capitalists! I’ll make sure on this but did not want it to be a surprise.
Consent Forms
06 March 2011
OK, we are winding down to the final week. Now I need this: The two consent forms filled out and turned in asap.
You can find them here. They are the standard fare, but I have to take them along with us. Thanks!!!

Tips for Travelling....
23 February 2011
1. Bring sunscreen. Or bring money to buy some at Walmart.
2. Bring a water bottle for the hiking. Of course we can get some there, but you will definitely need it
3. Bring a flashlight, especially if we're going in the lava tubes or out on the volcano lava fields at night.
4. Cell phones are good, but be prepared for limited internet access.
5. If parents want to give kids money, you might use those prepaid gift cards, but only get ones that can be replaced if lost or stolen. (Assume probably about 15 or 20 bux a day for food and things at the least.)
6. Bring cheap sunglasses. If you lose or break them, no big deal.
7. Bring hiking or tennis shoes, for the lava (and for Mauna Kea, especially if you want to go up to the summit). They'll probably get a little torn up, so don't bring your blingy new pump-action Nike Air Jordans, or whatever the kids are wearing these days get off my lawn.
8. Be prepared for some slow times, like driving across the island or on days of rest, however that suits you. (Books, sudoku, iPod, etc.)
9. Bring cold-weather gear for the summit. At least a sweatshirt and sweatpants, preferably a good coat and long undies, too.
10. Bring a POSITIVE, ADVENTUROUS ATTITUDE and PLEASANT DEMEANOR. :)
